Northamptonshire's business talent showcased at Autosport International 2013

 

Northampton, 10th January 2013: Northamptonshire’s thriving high performance technologies industry is being showcased at Autosport International this week by Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership (NEP) together with some of the county’s finest business talent. 

Taking place at the NEC in Birmingham between 10 – 13 January 2013, the event brings together the world of motorsport under one roof and is widely regarded as Europe’s largest trade-only motorsport exhibition, appealing to both industry professionals and motorsport fans. 

The home of one of the world’s leading motorsport industry clusters , Northamptonshire will be represented at the event by NEP along with a selection of thriving Northamptonshire high performance technology businesses including TotalSim, Diamond Hard Surfaces, N&B Engineering and Sandwell UK.  Undergraduate Engineering students from The University of Northamptonshire will also be attending. 

Tim Bagshaw, Head of Investment at Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, said:

 “Northamptonshire and NEP are committed to supporting our thriving motorsport industry which is also increasingly evolving to allow businesses to apply their high performance technology expertise to a variety of other sectors.”   

There are currently 1,000 HPT companies in Northamptonshire which make up the Northamptonshire High Performance Technologies Network, a unique concentration of businesses that specialise in the design and manufacture of innovative technologies, engines and products incorporating low carbon engineering and the application of lightweight materials and composites. Worth around £2 billion to the local economy, this network is supported by NEP and forms a comprehensive industry supply chain that significantly contributes to the economic growth of the county and enhances its prominence within the world-leading High Performance Technologies industry.  

A comprehensive workshop on the developed support programme for HPT and performance engineering businesses in the region will be taking place at the event on Thursday 10th January, presented by Tim Bagshaw. The workshop will include an overview of skills, export and supply chain development, in addition to information on the sizeable grants that NEP has secured from the national Regional Growth Fund which are now available to new or expanding HPT and performance engineering businesses in the region that are focused on job creation.
