Lancashire
Lancashire Enterprise Partnership was established in April 2011 to provide leadership for the county's economy and be a catalyst for job creation and economic growth. It is a Government-endorsed partnership between the private and public sectors, with a board comprising representatives from some of Lancashire's biggest employers, chambers of commerce, local councils and academic institutions.
The LEP is also central to a number of economic development initiatives of both local and national significance. It is working with BAE Systems to establish a new Enterprise Zone for advanced engineering and manufacturing at Samlesbury and Warton, which will launch in April 2012 and seek to create thousands of new jobs in the coming years.
Geography
The LEP covers the local authority areas of Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Burnley, Chorley, Fylde, Hyndburn, Lancaster, Pendle, Preston, Ribble Valley, Rossendale, South Ribble, West Lancashire and Wyre.
