Buckinghamshire Thames Valley

Background

The Buckinghamshire Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership (BTVLEP) is a business-led ‘partnership of equals’ between local government and the private sector, building the conditions for sustainable economic growth in the County.

BTVLEPs aims to ensure Buckinghamshire plays its full part in realising the Government’s Plan for Growth, through growing existing strengths in the sectors identified as the future drivers of prosperity; by delivering exceptional learning and skills outcomes; and by continuing to celebrate and embrace our position as the entrepreneurial heart of Britain.

Drawing on a detailed evidence base, and close understanding of local economic conditions, BTVLEP will agree and set out clear objectives and seek to see them achieved.

The county’s collective business voice is formally represented in BTVLEP by Buckinghamshire Business First (BBF), a not-for-profit enterprise, whose primary roles are to pull the business community together to enable the optimum operating environment for businesses in Buckinghamshire, through economic development and business engagement activities, and to provide secretariat support to BTVLEP.

Geography

BTVLEP covers the county of Buckinghamshire and has open and collaborative relationships with all neighbouring LEP areas.

Board and Governance

The BTVLEP board comprises five local business leaders, one of whom is Chairman, and five senior elected members from each of the Buckinghamshire local authorities.

The board will provide clear direction and define priorities for economic development interventions in Buckinghamshire.

Strong business input will ensure the right things get done, and projects are tightly defined with a strong sense of common ownership.
