Greater Manchester LEP welcomes UKTI Q1 export success

The Greater
Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership (GMLEP) praised the work of the
city’s UKTI office for helping businesses across the city to export goods to the
value of £26.6m during the first quarter of 2012-13
The figure, which represents 35.6% of all UKTI-supported exports from the North West in Q1, comprises total exports by the 838 businesses supported by the UKTI between April and June 2012.
It also means that the city has already delivered more than 50% of last year’s annual total (£62m) within the first three months of the current financial year.
Mike Blackburn, chairman of the GMLEP, said:
“These are really encouraging figures. To have surpassed 50% of the 2011-12 total within the first three months of the financial year shows the momentum of business activity.
“The UKTI team in Manchester plays a key role in assisting business to trade internationally and works closely with partner organisations like MIDAS and Marketing Manchester to promote company activity and the city to the world.”
