Coventry and Warwickshire LEP Inform Event: Support to Businesses

Coventry businesses will hear the area is very much open for business at the next Inform event held by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

The LEP is holding the latest of its Inform events throughout Coventry and Warwickshire at the Belgrade Theatre in the city on Friday, March 7.

Cllr Ann Lucas, the leader of Coventry City Council and LEP board director, will welcome businesses to the event at 7.45am.

Progress on the LEP’s City Deal bid to the government which is designed to stimulate and enable growth in the regional economy particularly in the advanced manufacturing and engineering sector will then be given by Cllr Lynnette Kelly, Coventry City Council Cabinet Member for Business, Enterprise and Employment and LEP board director.

Louise Bennett, chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, will give a presentation centred on the business support available locally including UKTI’s exporting advice to first-time and on-going exporters and the £30 million Growth Vouchers scheme for SMEs which is being delivered by West Midlands Chambers LLP.

A representative from Penso will talk about how the funding help they have received from the LEP has played a part in the growth of the engineering company.

David Cockcroft, assistant director of city centre and development services at Coventry City Council, will discuss the £50 million available via the Coventry Investment Fund which encourages businesses to locate or expand in Coventry by providing infrastructure, premises and facilities to boost their success.

Cllr Lucas said the Inform events were a great way of updating businesses of all sizes and in all sectors of the work the LEP was carrying out on their behalf.

“The importance of the public and private sector working together in Coventry and Warwickshire to carry out the LEP’s strategy is borne out in the funding given to private sector businesses through a number of government funding schemes.

“This has led to private investment and the creation of jobs throughout the area which is playing a vital part in boosting the regional economy as well as creating a working environment which encourages inward investment and underlines that we are very much open for business.”
