Coast to Capital and Openreach promoting Superfast broadband
The Coast to Capital Board and BT's Openreach division have teamed up to promote the benefits of Superfast broadband to businesses in the area
The organisations have worked together to produce the promotional leaflet entitled We’re bringing Superfast fibre broadband to Brighton & Hove, Gatwick Diamond, Croydon and West Sussex.
Alex Williamson, Coast to Capital board member and Broadband Champion said:
"Coast to Capital is keen to ensure businesses are not disadvantaged in the area by the lack of consistent, reliable and fast Internet connections. Working together with Openreach demonstrates our commitment to work with the industry to make all our ambitions reality. We do of course hope we will be able to work with other key suppliers to ensure Coast to Capital Internet access is as good as it can be."
Peter Cowen, BT's South East regional director, said:
"BT is committed to ensuring this region really does understand and harness the benefits Superfast broadband brings.
"We are pleased to be working with Coast to Capital Board to produce a leaflet which reaches out to businesses in the area."
BT has committed to a £2.5 billion roll-out of Superfast fibre broadband in the UK. The company's local network business Openreach is making Superfast broadband available, on an open wholesale basis, to around two-thirds of UK homes and businesses by the end of 2014 using a mix of fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) and fibre to the premises (FTTP) technologies. More than ten million homes and businesses already have access to the technology across the country, from a wide range of communications providers.
And this investment – which already includes more than 1.5 million with access in the South East - brings a major economic boost and assists people into new kinds of work, including starting up their own businesses.
Peter Cowen added:
"In these tough economic times, this exciting technology will give a big boost to local businesses. Sophisticated communications are the lifeblood of any successful organisation.
"Superfast broadband can give our businesses a significant competitive edge, helping them save money and improve their services at the same time."
